Kitchen

The kitchen is hands-down the most talked-about room in the house, and it makes me so happy every time I walk into it. I kept the green going in here with a soft, muted cabinet color that feels calm but still has personality. It’s a shade that ties in with other rooms in the house, creating a quiet sense of connection from space to space.

This room got a full rework—new layout, more counter space, and open shelving up top instead of upper cabinets, which I especially appreciate since I’m not the tallest. It feels open, bright, and super functional without sacrificing charm. Whether it’s for morning coffee or a weekend dinner with friends, this kitchen is truly the heart of the home.

Dining Room

The dining room got a few simple updates that made a big impact. I added a statement light fixture to bring some personality overhead, and expanded the seating so there’s room for everyone to gather comfortably. It’s the kind of space that feels just right for everything from slow weekend breakfasts to game nights with friends.

I carried the green rug over from the living room to help tie the spaces together—it’s a detail that makes the spaces feel connected. The mix of wood tones, soft textures, and playful lighting makes this space feel welcoming and a little elevated, without being too fussy. Just how I like it.

Living Room

In the living room, I really wanted the original woodwork to shine. The rich trim, French doors, and pocket doors are full of history and charm, so I kept everything else feeling balanced and intentional to let those details take center stage. There’s just something about that warmth and character that you can’t replicate—and I didn’t want to compete with it.

To bring in a little personality, I layered in a deep green rug—green is a thread that runs throughout the house—along with a copper velvet sofa for a cozy pop of color and a few playful pieces of art to keep things from feeling too serious. It’s a space that feels lived-in, warm, and full of little moments that make it feel like home.

Sunroom

The sunroom is one of those flexible little spaces that ends up being used for everything. Most days, it’s the coziest reading room—with sunlight streaming in and a comfy spot to curl up—but it also works perfectly as an extra guest bedroom when needed.

I went with an art deco–inspired bird wallpaper in soft, moody tones that adds just the right amount of personality without overwhelming the natural light. My great grandma’s wicker reading chair lives here now, and it feels right at home in the warmth of this space. The colors are soft and inviting, and they play so nicely with the rest of the house. It’s quiet, cozy, and full of charm—exactly the kind of space I love to sneak away to.

Office

This little office might be one of the smallest rooms in the house, but it packs a punch. I came across a painted mural tutorial online and knew I had to try it—and I’m so glad I did. The mural adds just the right amount of color and personality without overwhelming the space, and it gave the room an instant focal point. The rest of the palette is soft and neutral, with just a few playful pops of pink to keep things feeling fresh.

A comfy leather desk chair with gold accents makes working from home (or away) feel a bit more luxe, and the twin bed is layered with linen and waffle textures for extra coziness. Whether it’s a quick midday nap or a good night’s sleep, this room works double duty for both me and my Airbnb guests. It’s proof that even a hardworking space can still feel calm, comfortable, and thoughtfully styled.

DOWNSTAIRS BATHROOM

The downstairs bathroom is all about timeless charm with a fresh twist. I kept things classic with crisp white subway tile, bold black accents, and the original clawfoot tub—now updated with a shower so it’s as practical as it is pretty. It’s a little nod to the home’s Victorian roots, with just the right touch of modern.

Design-wise, it’s clean and classic with just enough personality. A subtle black-and-white wallpaper adds a soft pattern to the walls, while a vintage-style pedestal sink keeps the space feeling open and airy. The mix of textures and tones—shiny tile, matte finishes, and a hint of antique character—makes this little bathroom feel thoughtfully pulled together without trying too hard.

Upstairs Bathroom

The upstairs bathroom pulls in all the things I love—color, classic materials, and a sense of flow from room to room. I carried the soft green from the kitchen into the shower with glossy green subway tiles, creating a subtle connection between the spaces. Just like the downstairs bath, I kept it timeless with subway tile and clean lines that feel both fresh and familiar.

Design-wise, I wanted it to feel like a little gem. The small faux-marble hexagon floor tiles bring in a classic texture, while warm brass fixtures add a soft, elegant glow. I mixed in a few matte black accents for contrast and balance—it’s one of my favorite combos. It’s a quiet, polished space that still feels approachable, with finishes and materials that play so well together.

TV ROOM

Welcome to the moody little den—my favorite spot to curl up and unwind. Painted in a deep, cozy green, this room was made for slow mornings, movie marathons, and rainy days in. The cloud-like blue velvet sofa is as comfy as it looks, with pillow-style cushions that practically beg you to sink in and stay a while.

I layered in all the textures to make this space feel extra special—striped accent chair, rich velvet curtains, chunky throw pillows, and a roomy leather ottoman that’s perfect for kicking your feet up. It’s the coziest corner of the Sheboygan home, and guests always say it’s where they end up spending the most time. Moody, soft, and totally inviting—just how I like it.

Primary Bedroom

The primary bedroom is a peaceful retreat designed with a calming, neutral color palette. A bold, dark accent wall behind the bed creates a modern focal point while enhancing the cozy, relaxing atmosphere. The bed features plush layers of buttery soft sheets and inviting bedding—perfect for guests looking to unwind after a day of exploring.

Thoughtful textures bring the space to life, from the soft shag area rug to handwoven leather accents and warm wood furnishings that add natural richness and depth. The warm wood tones balance the cooler neutrals and bring a grounded, organic feel to the room. This stylish bedroom combines comfort and design, making it a standout feature in the Sheboygan home.
